Case Study - Helping a Construction Company

"Learn how Decideware helped a growing construction company to assess their strategic suppliers"

The Requirement

In 2008 Decideware was approached by one of the market's largest construction companies to provide a tool to underpin their supplier evaluation program.

The company had grown very significantly over the past few years to include construction of new homes & apartments, commercial and industrial property and property trusts in their portfolio.

The Issues

The previous supplier evaluation system was very labour intensive; reliant on email and spreadsheets to capture and report data.

With more than 30 strategic suppliers across direct and indirect categories including tiling, concrete, equipment hire, insulation, electrical, etc needing to be assessed bi-annually the task to complete the assessment process, compile the data and distribute reports was very significant, slow and cumbersome.

Our Approach

Decideware trained a system administrator to acquire the skills to manage the tool to build surveys and deploy them in a wave every 3 months (rotating the assessment between direct and indirect suppliers to minimize assessor fatigue). With 18 months experience the administrator is now highly skilled and the system is now largely automated, fast and efficient.

The Outcome

The client can easily manage large volumes of data efficiently and with far less administrative pain and reports are distributed regularly to the state and national managers.

Issues in the relationships are identified and addressed more readily and client – supplier discussions are informed on the basis on reliable feedback from stakeholders.

Support for the program is now high because it delivers such valuable results.
